Four would meet on this evening by a twist of fate. They found themselves drawn to Grendel’s Lair.Grendel’s Lair is a loft nightclub that features live bands on South Street in Philadelphia, “The City of Bloodily Love”. “The Black Goat” was performing that night, led by the mysterious and angelic voice of the female lead vocalist, “The Daughter”.
Solomon Locke, co-founder of the “Cult of the Black Goat,” was drawn by the band’s name. Curiosity drove fate’s hand, and led him to witness The Daughter, and have a chance encounter with Ash Snow, the ex-Philadelphia detective who was, not only responsible for his conviction, but the means by which he was released after serving 15 years for the murder of his wife’s lover.
Ash Snow, was also led to Grendel’s Lair out of curiosity. The “Black Goat” was the cult started by that Psycho, Solomon Locke, who was recently released from prison thanks to Dorian Geertz, Esquire.
Elizabeth Cross, ex Olympic hopeful for the United States Swim Team, was also drawn to the band. Suffering from a variety of mental health problems associated with depression and severe phobias, her obsessive compulsive attachment to tarot cards revealed a pattern, so she thought, that led her here.
Leon Mars, a once promising rock star, was bar tending at Grendel’s Lair on this fated night. Leon Mars has worked in many bars since falling off his Stairway to Stardom. Grendel’s Lair has been his longest gig, and the owners seem to be tolerant of his “incidents,” where he breaks into writing music lyrics on walls, paper napkins, or anything he can find. Many of his lyrics can be found in the walls of the men’s bathroom.
As the night progressed, a pink cloud filled the crowded club, welcoming the anticipation of debauchery.
